What they say

  • Unbelievable!

Where do I start with this fabulous hotel? We were greeted with a fabulous looking hotel with discreet parking and in an excellent location near both Windermere and Bowness.  On entering the hotel we were greeted by excellent, friendly and polite staff who made check in extremely easy and quick. We were then showed to our room which exceeds many expectations. Staying in the Keswick suite, it was extremely clean, beautifully laid out and full of some fantastic final touches. The bathroom deserves a review on its own. Modern touches made a real difference from the mood lighting to the wall mounted bathroom TV.  Morning breakfast was fantastic with many choices. The servings were filling, the food was hot and cooked to perfection. Compliments to the chef!!!! I have been to many hotels in the past and none have even been close to this hotel! I am so pleased to have stumbled over this hotel and we WILL certainly be returning in the future. Guys do not walk past this hotel, book if there is space and i promise you will not be disappointed!!!!!

  • A luxurious and relaxing stay

I stayed for 2 nights in the Keswick suite with my boyfriend, and what a fantastic stay it was! The weather wasn't great so thank god for the stunning room! When we first arrived we met Vicky who provided us with information on the towns close to us and things to do, then she showed us to our room which was beautiful, spacious and of course the bathroom with the airbath was out of this world - that alone made the price well worth it!  Breakfast- was delicious, we ordered the full English which was delivered to our room so we could stay in our robes whilst enjoying our breakfast!  Things to do- we went on a boat trip from Brownness (which is about a 10 minute walk away from the hotel) which was great fun and very interesting. There are many little shops to go in while having a walk around the town, and many lovely cafes and restaurants. I enjoyed how relaxing the area was, and the stunning scenery!  I would definitely recommend the Windermere suites for the rooms alone, however the location also adds to the experience!

  • Wish we could have stayed longer!

We were shown our room (The Keswick Suite) and were amazed by the actual floor space of our luxurious surroundings. It felt like we'd just walked into a brand new room being used for the very first time. The place was immaculate. Modern furnishings - warm lighting and inviting bathroom!  I cannot fault any part of this superior B&B experience.  The choice at breakfast was to die for.... It filled you up until you went out for an evening meal. The mini bar was reasonably priced with a varied selection of snacks and beverages.  The staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. Nothing EVER seemed too much trouble and someone was available to answer questions or tend to your every need. This was our mini honeymoon due to work commitments and I have to say, we both definitely wished we could have stayed longer..... We WILL return!

  • Loved it here!

The room we had 'Hawskead Suite' was amazing, the decoration is so unique, the beds were so comfy, jacuzzi bath was amazing and breakfast so tasty. I could go on all day so I will just say we will be back!! Thanks for a great stay!

    Hawkshead Suite

  • Absolutely amazing!

We stayed in the Hawkshead Suite, one word, WOW! It was very spacious and luxurious the room was furnished to a very high standard it was perfect. The bathroom was lovely with its walk in shower and double Jacuzzi bath the heated floor and mood lights made it extra cosy. We booked the romantic package, it was lovely to have champagne on ice waiting for us, rose petals on the bed, flowers and fresh Strawberries dipped in chocolate. For breakfast you get to choose from a wide selection of options and pick a time when you would like it brought to your room, our breakfast arrived on the dot it was delicious just what we needed for the day ahead. It was so nice to enjoy breakfast in the privacy of our own room. All in all we had a lovely night away. The Windermere suites are well worth a visit for a special treat and a bit of luxury. Perfect for a romantic break, we will definitely be returning.

  • Fabulous!

Spent a luxurious night in the Hawkshead Suite. Greeted on arrival by Byron and taken to our fabulous room where we were shown all the controls for bathroom lighting, heating, air bath and TV. Our romantic package included champagne and chocolates, the glasses and chocolate box were artfully laid out on the enormous bed, strewn with rose petals, and the champagne was sitting in an ice bucket awaiting our arrival. The bathroom had underfloor heating, controllable mood lighting and a double sized air-bath and was very comfortable. All was spotlessly clean. We went for a walk at the lakeside with clear directions from Byron, left our menu choices for breakfast at reception, and later dined in the next town at a very good Thai restaurant. We did not use the mini bar at all, but it was well stocked with decent brands of wines, spirits and other refreshments. The bed was comfortable, and despite being in a front room there was no road noise, although I slept so well I would not have noticed if there was. The next morning breakfast arrived at the time we had chosen, and was 'piping hot' (hurrah!) and proved to be very tasty. Thanks to the lovely friendly Vicky and Byron for a fabulous night away.

  • A perfect romantic break away

If you’re looking for a 5* celebrity-style getaway this is the place to stay. Location is fantastic only a five minute walk to bars, restaurants and shops. But you won’t want to leave your room at all. The food is fantastic and breakfast is to die for. All your food is delivered to your room so you can keep on relaxing, the decor is second to no other hotel I have stayed in and the attention to detail was superb. The bathroom was amazing. A double Jacuzzi bath with mood lighting and a wonderful shower with illuminated shower head. The room was supplied with a minibar containing spirits, wine, champagne and chocolate, I recommend the romantic package to add that extra wow factor. The romantic package consists of champagne, chocolates and rose petals. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and gave us a tour and told us everything we needed to know about the room. The room was totally spotless not even a speck of dust or dirt in sight, I didn't want to check out of the room. Will definitely be returning very soon, I highly recommend this hotel it is purely fantastic, A+++

    Grasmere Suite

  • Luxury, class and comfort. Perfect!

My husband and I have stayed in some top class hotels - The Lowry and The Radisson Edwardian to name two - but this surpasses all that they have to offer in terms of the accommodation (we stayed in the Grasmere Suite), staff and breakfast. Absolutely everything is top spec and really well thought-out, even down to the waterfall taps with mood lighting! The fact that you can have your breakfast in your suite wearing a robe they've provided makes it even better. I can't use enough superlatives to describe how staying here made us feel. Fantastic just does not cover it. Worth every penny.

    Grasmere Suite

  • Excellent, more like a 7*!

Stayed in the Grasmere suite. Honestly, we had to force ourselves to leave our suite to walk around and see the lake. It’s like our second home. Cosy and comfortable with all that one could want...airbath (jacuzzi) with disco lights, a TV in the bathroom (to watch in comfort while enjoying the bath), a comfortable couch, carpet and a very comfortable bed. An excellent breakfast with great variety included and fantastic personal room serivce. If we had the chance, we would rate it 7 star and would have easily paid double of what we did! One of the best B&Bs we have ever stayed in.

  • Can’t wait to go back

We stayed in the Coniston Suite for one night. We should have made plans to stay for longer and we will certainly be making sure that's what we do the next time. It was a last minute booking, just to escape for a while with my other half. I knew I had booked the right place when I saw his face as we were shown to our suite. In true bloke fashion he was very pleased that there were 3 televisions in the room. We loved not having to go to a dining room for breakfast, as it is standard that breakfast is served in the suites. Breakfast was superb. I genuinely cannot rate this place highly enough, although I hope that this does not mean it is fully booked the next time we want to sneak away because I can't think of anywhere I would rather stay.

  • Luxury hideaway in the Lakes

Seriously relaxing haven! Back to Windermere Suites for the third time in the last couple of years, nothing has changed (that's a good thing!). Bit of a last minute trip, and this time contacted the hotel direct and we got a really good deal. It still isn't cheap, but well worth it. This time we had Coniston, and I have to say that although all the rooms are very good, this is my favourite so far. As you can see from the other reviews, this place is a gem. The rooms are completely unexpected, superb detail and so comfortable. The staff are so accommodating, nothing is too much trouble, and very professional. Breakfast is an absolute must! You order the night before, and it is delivered to your room in the morning at the time you requested. Windermere Suites doesn't have those long views over the lake, but it has everything else, great value and strongly recommended.

  • The pictures do not do it justice!

Stayed for a quick minimoon. We were lucky enough to stay in the Conisiton Suite. This is massive. As you walk in there is a magical bathroom ahead of you, to the right is what can only be described as a lounge and to the left an amazingly decorated bedroom. Breakfast was 1st class. I have stayed in many places and hotels around the world but none have been as modern or as jazzy as this. Although it is near the top end of the price bracket I believe it is worth every penny and will be back. Thank you for making our minimoon memorable.

  • Awesome

Stayed for one night in the Cartmel suite. Very good first impressions - looks very smart from the outside, and we were greeted by a friendly lady on arrival who offered us drinks while we were checking in and to take our luggage upstairs for us.  Room was spotless and warm for our arrival - definite feeling of luxury throughout our stay. The bathroom was without a doubt the best part. The colour changing lighting of the mirror, shower and bath were such a nice touch and the underfloor heating was awesome. Towels and bathrobes were lovely and soft and clean. The bath products provided were nice and we left with very soft hair after using the shampoo!  The bed was ridiculously large and comfy, we had such a good night’s sleep! Liked the fact you could turn all the various lamps off with one light switch by the side of the bed.  The complimentary tea and hot chocolate were pleasant, with pretty interesting looking cups and saucers. We didn’t touch the mini bar, but it was well stocked. You're given a pretty decent choice on arrival of what you want for breakfast the next day - Full English, veggie options, even choices of toast, cereal and cold and hot drinks to go with it. It arrived at the time we selected at our room exactly on time, lovely and warm.  Location is brilliant, pretty central in Windermere, really easy to find and a nice easy walk to the lake and the centre. We were emailed a good list of restaurants in the area for dinner, and also given a map on arrival.  The room was really quiet, no noise from any other rooms and we had the French doors open the following morning and there was next to no outdoor noise, which was lovely.

  • Perfect stay!

I took my partner to stay at The Windemere Suites for her 30th birthday. I wanted it to be special for her and the hotel certainly lived up to my expectations! It was amazing. We stayed in the Cartmel Suite. It was luxurious and spacious. It was immaculate and clean as well. The bathroom with a massive air bath in it and a TV on the wall was fabulous! The perfect breakfast was served in the privacy of our suite which we loved. We had no complaints whatsoever. The staff were friendly and helpful and it was the best hotel I have ever stayed in. We will most definitely be going back and would recommend this hotel to people.

    Cartmel Suite

  • Amazing hotel!

Stayed in the Cartmel Suite for my birthday over the bank holiday weekend, the hotel, room, staff and food were all exceptional. The bathroom was luxurious, the bed extremely comfortable, breakfast served in our suite was fabulous. We will definitely be booking again.

    Cartmel Suite

  • Warm, friendly and relaxing

We spent two nights in the Bowness suite and it was not long enough, the room was spotless the breakfast was perfect as it was filling. We were made comfortable as soon as we met Vicky at reception and were made to feel really welcome.  Jan and myself have stayed at a few 5* hotels in both London and Manchester but Windermere suites come out on top and you definitely get what you pay for - luxury.

    Bowness Suite

  • Top class honeymoon!

This place is seriously nice. We stayed in the Bowness Suite for a week and enjoyed every second we spent in the room. We'd have happily spent more time in there. Staff were polite, welcoming and friendly without being cloying or obsequious. Nothing was too much trouble; an umbrella was provided on arrival; ice arrived within seconds of a request; spare keys were provided when we left ours in the wrong car; breakfast arriving punctually in the serving hatch and was unfailingly generous. We worked our way through most of the menu during the week. Particularly impressive were the Porridge, the Eggs Benedict and of course, the Full Cumberland (with perfectly poached eggs).  Discretion when paying was shown; other guests were present and as we were on honeymoon I was pleased my wife wasn't forced to hear the amount I had spent! Flowers were exactly as requested and there didn't seem to be a huge mark-up on them.  The room was kept spotlessly clean and the jacuzzi bath was amazing, especially with the lighting controls; though we got a bit over-enthusiastic with the heated flooring! The mini-bar was well-stocked, and although we didn’t use it much, the prices were not extortionate. Plenty of hanging space and drawer space in the walk-in wardrobe.  We used the free entry to the Old England Hotel Spa - this was completely worth it and we even had 10% off treatments.

    Bowness Suite

  • Exceptional! If I could give 6 stars I would!

We just returned from a one night stay in the Bowness Suite and it was absolutely beautiful. The service and attentiveness of Vicky the owner was second to none. We were greeted with such a lovely welcome and asked to sit on a sofa in a beautiful room with a drink whist Vicky told us about the hotel and our suite, and recommended nearby restaurants for us. The suite itself was beautiful with everything you could ask for. The bath was out of this world with a bathroom TV which was fantastic! The shower was equally brilliant along with the amazing lighting in the bathroom. The bed was huge and exceptionally comfy. We had breakfast in our suite which was delivered through the secret hatch so no one even had to come in to our room. Breakfast itself was excellent and there was a great choice beforehand. The walk in wardrobe was a great addition with a well-stocked minbar that was reasonably priced. The Bowness Suite had its own private entrance at the rear of the hotel with a patio, so we didn't even have to walk through the hotel itself to get to our room which was great. An exceptional hotel.

  • Just perfect!

We booked the Ambleside suite for our 1st anniversary and were not disappointed. We arrived ahead of check-in time and were shown to our suite straight away. The room was set out beautifully, with fairy lights twinkling on the headboard, rose petals on the bed and some luxury chocolates for us to enjoy. The bathroom was equally prepared with the mood lighting on to create a lovely atmosphere. Both rooms were spotless and the decor was flawless. Quirky features like your own entrance (space for the car directly opposite) and the food hatch for room service made this very much an ideal break for couples who wish to get away from everything and everyone. Also the walk in wardrobe complete with mini bar was a great addition so all our luggage could be stored away from sight and there was plenty of room for laying out clothes/getting dressed/making tea etc. The patio area was just lovely for chilling in the sunshine with a glass of fizz too!

  • Absolutely fantastic suites!

We stayed here for 1 night for my husbands 40th birthday recently (Ambleside suite) and all I can say is wow wow wow!!! Absolutely amazing room, I was blown away from the moment I entered the room, it’s so opulent and luxuriously furnished, and finished to a very, very high standard with extremely high quality furniture. I got some fantastic photographs (that I can’t stop looking at) thanks to the luxurious settings they are perfect for enlarging and framing. Everything was absolutely perfect, even the colour-changing bathroom mirror was amazing and the tap with LED lights!! We both slept really well in the silver leaf 'fit for royalty' huge bed and have to say it was soooo so comfy! And then finally, we have breakfast...served at a time to suit, it is the most amazing breakfast (more like a banquet) to start the day with and being served through a private serving hatch was the icing on the cake for us. If you are thinking of staying at Windermere Suites, please book it, I have absolute confidence you will not be disappointed at all.

    Ambleside Suite

  • Superb in every way

Total luxury - we were in the Ambleside suite and it was fantastic. Stylish decor throughout and fabulous facilities like the spa bath and double shower. And the food hatch is a brilliant idea. The food was really good and there was a generous breakfast. Suites are well worth it for a special treat.

    Ambleside Suite

  • A huge dose of luxury! Well worth splashing out for!

We stayed in the Patterdale Suite which has a comfortable sofa, dining table for two, great comfy bed, spacious walk in shower and huge bath. For a little extra I ordered Rose Petals and chocolate-dipped strawberries which were nicely arranged on the bed when we entered the room. (Just two of the many 'extras' you can order which I think is a great touch especially for couples going away for a special occasion!) The staff at check-in were very friendly and although we were earlier than the normal check-in time we were shown straight to our room which had already been prepared. The room itself was immaculate, with all white furnishings it had to be. There was plenty of room to unpack your bag no matter how long you were staying, with hangers and drawer space in the walk in closet, accompanied by the well stocked mini bar, which was reasonably priced. The bathroom was very large with underfloor heating and programmable coloured lighting which is easily operated or turned off depending on your personal preference.  We were given a menu card to order our breakfast which we handed in on our way out to tea. There was plenty of choice which would suit all tastes. Breakfast is served direct to your room at a selection of times which you can choose from. It arrived the next day with a smile on a trolley. The cooked breakfast was hot and delicious, the coffee was fresh and the juice was nicely chilled. It was everything we expected.  We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Patterdale suite and will definitely be returning in the future. Thank you to all the staff who made us feel welcome and made our stay excellent.

    Patterdale Suite

  • Nothing short of excellent!

I can honestly say it is one of the nest hotels I have ever stayed in.  Upon arrival our bags were taken and we were shown to our room, which had everything you would want and more. The staff were excellent, rooms were of a good size (we stayed in the Patterdale suite), the hotel in general was impeccably decorated and cleaned to the highest of standards.  The room itself was spacious, had plenty of room in the cloakroom to leave our walking gear and suitcases. The bathroom, with its walk in shower and double jacuzzi bath with tv and mood lighting was just what a romantic getaway needed.  Location wise it is a stone’s throw away from Windermere village so there are a few pubs and places to eat to choose from.  The staff at the hotel are extremely helpful and polite, and were very good at ensuring they answered all questions you may have upon arrival.

  • A short break at Windermere Suites!

My boyfriend and I went to the Patterdale Suite at Windermere Suites for a 3 night. The suite was absolutely gorgeous and we loved the added touch of the romantic package, which was included with no added charge as they had an offer on! The bath was brilliant and with the TV on the wall above, was a great post-walk way to warm up and chill out at the same time! The service was great and the breakfast was nice - in particular the porridge which we got some pear added to! Would love to come back again, felt well looked after and the location was perfect for long walks and visiting local restaurants in Bowness in the evening.

  • Great experience all around. Fantastic staff and memorable breakfast! Will definitely recommend it to all my friends and will be coming back next time off we have.
